Botox. Do we really need it?
When you look at the magazine covers, you see attractive and young-looking women. Their faces are smooth, tan, without wrinkles. But do you know that in reality, they do not look like that at all? They are similar to us, ordinary girls, busy, overworked and often not having the strength to properly take care of ourselves. To look nice, they undergo plastic surgeries and invasive aesthetic medicine treatments. One of them is Botox. Is this substance really effective? And is we really necessary for average women?
What is Botox?
Botox is a substance produced by anaerobic bacteria. It is also called botulinum toxin. It is one of the toxins that have the strongest effect on our body. To this day, seven toxins have been identified that differ in structure. The human body is sensitive to five of them.
How does Botox work?
Botox blocks the transmission of the nerve impulse to the muscle, which is thereby immobilized. It is impossible to express emotions and facial expressions. With difficulty (or not at all) we smile, we marvel, we grieve. The muscles are at rest, which reduces the appearance of mimic wrinkles. This effect can last even for half a year.
Complications after botox injection
Botulinum toxin has a negative effect on the nervous system and brain function. When injected into the muscle, it can travel along nerve cells, and repeated injections can lead to muscle atrophy and fat tissue replacement. If one of the facial muscles becomes paralyzed, the rest will work intensively – wrinkles will be created in a new place and again you will need to inject them with botulism. Other complications after surgery include: eyelid and lip drooping, bad eyebrow position, double vision, blinking problems, drooling, changes in pronunciation, problems with swallowing, neck weakness.
Is botox really necessary?
No, there are better ways to rejuvenate the skin. It is enough to use products that stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. These products should contain acids, retinol, vitamin C, antioxidants, sunscreens. Also, you can undergo radiation with LED light, mesotherapy or exercise to stimulate facial muscles. Effects? The skin will gain a nice colour, it will be healthier and more hydrated, it will become firmer and softer to the touch.
